Fees & frequently asked questions
Therapy already asks enough of people. The basic logistics should not require detective work.
Dark Waters Therapy is a private-pay practice. I do not bill insurance directly.
Life Coaching and attended clinical documentation sessions are billed at the applicable state-specific individual session rate shown above. Letter preparation is billed separately at the equivalent of one additional individual session.
Cancellation policy
Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice and missed appointments are charged the full session fee.
A free 15–20 minute consultation is available to determine whether the clinical work, logistics, availability, and fit make sense. It is not a therapy session or a clinical assessment.
Common questions
Direct, relational, trauma-informed, and practical. I am emotionally present and nonjudgmental without being passive. We look at patterns with curiosity, speak plainly, and keep checking whether the work is useful.
Yes. I am a 12-year Army and Navy veteran and work with veterans and first responders. Military service informs my understanding, but it will not be treated as your entire identity.
No. A lot of good therapy starts with a quieter recognition: this pattern is costing me too much, this relationship needs attention, or I do not want to keep living on automatic.
Yes. Dark Waters Therapy is LGBTQIA+ affirming. Your identity is not something you need to defend, explain, or have treated as a clinical problem.
Yes. I work with polyamory, ethical non-monogamy, kink, power exchange, and other relationship structures. The focus is on consent, communication, agreements, attachment, fit, and the actual concern bringing you in.
Yes. My work is sex-worker literate and affirming. Your work will not automatically be pathologized or treated as the explanation for every problem in your life.
Yes. Telehealth is a major part of the practice and is available to clients physically located in states where I am authorized to practice at the time of the session. In-person psychotherapy is currently available in Missouri.
Rates vary by state. Missouri sessions are $125 for individual psychotherapy and $150 for couples or relationship therapy. Oregon sessions are $200 for individual psychotherapy and $250 for couples or relationship therapy. Standard sessions are approximately 45 minutes. Limited reduced-fee openings are currently available for Oregon individual psychotherapy at $150 per 45-minute session. Availability is limited and may change as openings are filled. Missouri and Oregon standard rates remain listed above.
Dark Waters Therapy is a private-pay practice. I do not bill insurance directly. Ask during consultation about any documentation that may be available for out-of-network reimbursement.
Then skepticism makes sense. You are allowed to ask direct questions, pay attention to fit, and tell me when something misses. A consultation is not a commitment, and therapy should not require you to surrender your judgment.
Still have a question?
A consultation is the right place to talk about fit, logistics, and what you are looking for from therapy.
