About Will McElroy, LPC

Clinical training. Real-world mileage.

I work best with people who want a therapist willing to be present, direct, curious, and useful. No performance. No polished therapist voice. Just serious work between two people paying attention.

I am a licensed professional counselor and a 12-year military veteran. I served four years in the U.S. Army and eight years in the U.S. Navy. That history matters to my work, especially with veterans and first responders, but it is not the whole story or the only lens I bring into the room.

My clinical style is relational, trauma-informed, practical, and collaborative. I pay attention to what happened, what your nervous system learned from it, and what those lessons are doing in your life now. Some responses still protect you. Some have outlived the situation that built them. Therapy helps us tell the difference.

I do not position myself as the authority on your life. You know the terrain from the inside. I bring training, an outside view, pattern recognition, and the ability to help chart a route when everything feels like open water.

“The therapist is the navigator, not the captain.”

Direct

I will not hide behind clinical language or make you guess what I am thinking. Honest does not have to mean careless.

Relational

The relationship in the room matters. I pay attention to trust, rupture, power, humor, silence, and what happens between us.

Collaborative

We decide what matters, what we are working toward, and whether our work is actually helping. Therapy is not something I do to you.

Grounded

Insight matters. So does what you do Monday morning when the same trigger, person, or problem shows up again.

A practical kind of hope

The storm may shape you. It does not get the final word.
